Today and for many years a lot of people have looked at moving into photography as a business or as a second income which has come about because of a photography hobby and interest.
Within our photography as a business workshops, we look at photography as a business more as an individual basis, this is due to the vast areas of photography that one may wish to move into.
Many photographers fall into a legal nightmare within the first few months of opening their photography business. One clear problem is dealing with contracts and the legal issues that you may come across.
The other important parts of running a photography business is marketing your skills and business in the correct manor for the intended market, some things work and something’s don’t; it better to be ahead than to fail trying.
Many new photographers move into business with the wrong ideas, this can be fed from a interest in the subject and then maybe a friend asking for them to shoot a few pictures. The photographer then puts an advertisement or website together with out thinking of the legal problems they have caused themselves; in fact there are many website’s that make the photographers liable or offer more than they intend to.
Selecting the right business model to work from is essential as you can lose your home and all your assets if you get it wrong. During the workshop, we look at the various options available and how to safe guard yourself against common problems that most photographers come up against.
As the needs and aspirations of photographers differ greatly, our business workshops are a one to one service, this ensures that the advice given is targeted directly at your needs and ongoing requirements.
Set over a few weeks, we first look at your business idea and then look at your target market to carry out a feasibility study. This is to understand you and your business as a basic foundation of our advice and test to see your requirements for basic business planning.
We then look at your skills, and business model and make suggestions giving you feedback. we then offer advice and help you with your next step.
The follow step will be your presentation and marketing, this may be advertising or online website, where we can help you with this to ensure you are aware of the requirements that you need to have and make.
We look at your contracts and provide sample contracts for you to use. Following this we provide some support for you after you start your business if you happen to become stuck.
We do cover other areas that we have not mentioned in this run down of our photography business workshop, such as funding grants, VAT and taxes, company formation, etc etc. for more information click here to view the GTWCMT business services website. This is a link to the CEO of national photographers other business website, which offers services to you as part of a complete service.

With a lot of photographers they seem to fall into this comfort zone and style that is them through and through. If you look at 1980’s photographer’s you can see that not much has changed in there photographic abilities and fashion changes are missed.
Being stuck in this rutt can often lead to photographers missing out on jobs just because people think that their work is out dated and you can see the difference between newer photographers and older photographers as well as the changes in advertising and what actually sells.
This course is a combination of theory and practical work to get your photography to think out side of the box.
The aim of the course is to bring you back to basics, using the rule of thirds and breaking those rules to give you more outstanding results.
Take a new and fresh look at subjects by going far from your comfort zone and tackling new assignments and having your work critiqued as well as hands on work with one of our photographers.
The photography training is firstly an assessment of your work and critique of your work, you can then resubmit your work based on the critique that was given.
We will ask you to complete a task to see how out side the box and comfort zone you can go and then the remainder of the photography training course is hands on real photography with a professional photographer.
Our courses are meant to challenge you, but they are relaxed and informal so that you enjoy being told your photography stinks.. only joking.. but its a laid back more casual form of training rather than being at school, and is also a more one to one from of training.
The aim of the course:
This photography training course is targeted at photographers that are already established and wish to redevelop their photography skills. This is NOT a film to digital Photography course (see basic photography training for learning digital photography).
